BMX - should i buy this bike tommorrow?

hey everyone, im new here. i have never owned a bmx bike but now i want one, and this guy is selling his bike. its a GT performer. keep in mind im new to the bmx world. he said he'll give it to me for $45:

what do you all think? should i get it?

I don't know... it's got mag wheels, which might be ok but there's a reason everyone switched to regular spoked wheels. The frame design isn't exactly modern either.

I guess if you just want a bike to screw around on, it's fine, but if you want to start BMX'ing I would save up some more to get a nicer bike.

I agree with MadMan--if you aren't certain that you will continue with BMX, it's a reasonably cheap start, but you'd possibly be upgrading in the very near future if you find that you enjoy BMX.

i live in Woodbridge, VA bro. its just $45 bucks, so i might get it as a beginners bike. hopefully i will continue BMXing b/c i think its the greatest thing in the world.

but would that bike be the kind that i could do upgrades and stuff to it?

If it's $45 GET IT. That's hella cheap for a bike.

Once you get it put up some pictures and we'll let you know what you can do to upgrade it.

Kinteik, usually you break things before you upgrade them. :p

Not really. Reasons i've replaced things:

1. Frame Bent
2. Cranks snapped
3. Bars bought really cheap (I'll give you that one)
4. Grips worn to fook
5. Wheels pooed
6. Sprockets bent
7. Stem didn't fit (needed a ton of spacers or a chop to the forks which i didn't feel up to with no saw)
8. Pedal bearings fell out.
