I am going to try some sprints (first time ever in Tri) this year, and I just picked up a set of Speedo jammers to swim in. How many people cycle in these "swim suits", and how many people run? I couldnt really find any local store with "tri-suits" that fit me, and Im not too keen on buying my first tri-suit online, so I just went ahead and got jammers to train in.

I'm not really worried about padding (for cycling), but I'm wondering how well these will be at swimming, cycling, and running together. The jammers are 72% nylon and 28% Lycra. I guess only time will tell, I'm going to try to wear them cycling sometime this week.

If the Tri you are doing a large, they will have an expo beforehand, get some tri shorts. They dry faster and are tighter on the legs than speedo jammers. This helps with muscle fatigue. Also, they will have some padding which you may or may not care about. Lots of great websites also sell the tri shorts.

I've done my first two sprints with Tyr jammers (all three legs) without a problem. It would be nice to have a little padding for the bike, but for 20 miles or less, the discomfort is minimal (YAMV). ;)

That said, they had an expo at the event Sunday, and I picked up some last-years DeSoto tri shorts for half price. Pretty much like a shorter version of swim jammers with a minimal quick-dry chamois. I'll train with them and decide whether to race them or my trusty jammers next time.
