roadway and adjacent entrance ramps on Wednesday, April 4 and
Thursday, April 5. The project will be complete and all associated equipment
will be removed from the park by Friday, April 6 at 4:00 am. The West Drive
will be open for recreational activity that weekend.

Work will resume on Sunday, April 8 at 8:00 pm on the West Drive in
the mid 90's and continue south on the West Drive until the mid 70's. DOT
staff will mill the roadway and adjacent entrance ramps on Sunday,
April 8, Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10. Workers will repave the
milled section of the roadway and adjacent entrance ramps on
Wednesday, April 11 and Thursday, April 12. The project will be complete and all
associated equipment will be removed from the park by Friday, April 13
at 4:00 am. The West Drive will be open for recreational activity that

The Central Park Conservancy will post signs at each pedestrian

addition, we ask that you share this information with your membership.

Thanks for the heads up. Central park does deserve some smoother roads, i'm glad it's finally getting done.

Anybody ride there today? What are the conditions on the West Drive after last night's (alleged) milling of the pavement?

I was there today (April 2) and it's nasty.

It looks perfectly normal at first but they've dug out all the pot holes and grooves so they're much larger and deeper than they used to be. I guess that's so they can fill them. The grooves created by handsom cab wheels is deaper than ever and some hansom cab drivers were over riding their lane trying to avoidi it. As a result traffis was crossing over into the recreational lanes to pass the carriages.

Other than that, if you know where the pot holes and grooves are then the drives are totally rideable.

I rode last night; they must have filled in all the holes, cause I didn't really notice much of a difference anywhere

The only repairs I noticed were on Harlem Hill. It's completely closed to cars. But the bike/runner's path is rideable. They've paved about half way up the hill. Then it reverts back to the old pavement.

Lucky07 - is Harlem Hill near the other ice skating rink?

Air, Yep, it's just past the skating rink. Take a left past the rink and pond and there's the hill. I think it's officially called "The Great Hill".

Sweet - that's near the 'Ravine' they called it. My new favorite night spot to ride through.

"Oh, there were stairs there? I didn't see them. I must've rode right over them." - Air after slvoid and I had to jump our front wheels over some small stone steps in the dark.

Are they going to do more repaving? There's a section at the south end that is horrible! Right after the turn near Columbus Circle, the road goes to hell.

The new repaving is amazing! Unfortunately it makes you realize how bad the non-repaved parts are..

The Central Park Conservancy (http://www.centralparknyc.org/4809413/16209058) website only mentions the West Drive. If I happen to receive any further updates I'll post 'em.
