I have to admit this brought a tear to my eye, then an angry sick disgusting feeling in my stomach as I read it. Am I overly sensitive to it? Nothing abhors me more then child abuse.

I do not understand how anyone can do this to a child. This came to me as an email with the pic of the blue ribbon you see attached to this thread. It is called the blue ribbon against child abuse. The email asks that I pass this on, this is the best way I know how.

"My name is Sarah

I am but three,

My eyes are swollen

I cannot see,

I must be stupid,

I must be bad,

What else could have made

My daddy so mad?

I wish I were better,

I wish I weren't ugly,

Then maybe my Mommy

Would still want to hug me.

I can't speak at all,

I can't do a wrong

Or else I'm locked up

All the day long.

When I awake I'm all alone

The house is dark

My folks aren't home.

When my Mommy does come

I'll try and be nice,

So maybe I'll get just

One whipping tonight.

Don't make a sound!

I just heard a car

My daddy is back

From Charlie's Bar.

I hear him curse

My name he calls

I press myself

Against the wall.

I try and hide

From his evil eyes

I'm so afraid now

I'm starting to cry.

He finds me weeping

He shouts ugly words,

He says its my fault

That he suffers at work.

He slaps me and hits me

And yells at me more,

I finally get free

And I run for the door.

He's already locked it

And I start to bawl,

He takes me and throws me

Against the hard wall.

I fall to the floor

With my bones nearly broken,

And my daddy continues

With more bad words spoken.

"I'm sorry!" I scream

But its now much too late

His face has been twisted

Into unimaginable hate.

The hurt and the pain

Again and again

Oh please God, have mercy!

Oh please let it end!

And he finally stops

And heads for the door,

While I lay there motionless

Sprawled on the floor.

My name is Sarah

And I am but three,

Tonight my daddy

Murdered me."

I too often see these in emails. I just wonder if this is chain EMAIL???

Anyhoo, child abuse is the worse right next to animal abuse. :(

These are chain e-mails.
They prey on the weak and uninformed using both real and fabricated stories in an attempt to glean e-mail addresses and find out which e-mail addresses are active. They usually like to play on people's e-motions and have recently turned to stuff like this in an attempt to ensure that people pass it on to everybody in their address book. Yay for keeping spam and phishing alive and kicking.

i feel angry and full of helpless frustration that i cannot help so many people who need it.

beyond that, words cannot explain my feelings about what these people experience.

maybe it's because this sort of thing is more fresh in my mind. In the UK, even after the whole horrid Victoria Climbie (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/in_depth/uk/2002/victoria_climbie_inquiry/default.stm) thing, a pretty ghastly case was in the news just last week. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/gloucestershire/6449027.stm.

It's a sick world.

I wish somebody would start a chain email that would threaten dismemberment to anyone who forwards chain email.

Yeah, I never forward this stuff either. Because it does nothing for the cause even if it is legitimate. If you want to help people or animals or the environment, volunteer for what ever holds your heart the most. We all know what evil is out there and how some people just deserve to die right where they stand.

Well some of us know what people are capable of................I have seen stuff that would make you puke your intestines up and make a meek preacher turn into a vengeful mercy killer.

I hate all that is evil and wish I could anhilate it from the face of the earth.

OK back to question, does child abuse makes me sad? anyone that says no to this would be sick!
those emails I really dont care for.
you want to do something? get up and do something for the kids.
I have this year:D it's not going to give me a medal, but it will give a some minority kids the same rights as others.

I met Aimee Mann before. She was with Ed Roland of Collective Soul. John Roland, his brother, is a close friend of mine.

I feel for abuse children. But why write a sad poem about it?

I have a death metal cover of that song... its... interesting.

As for child abuse, I'm glad that Texas has civil committment for those convicted of multiple sex crimes (basically means on parole for the rest of the life, and one violation means back to prison for a third degree felony (which pretty much means rest of the life in prison.)

TexasGuy is 100% right as well. Chain letters used to be despised in the days before spam because people were concerned about bandwidth, but are still as annoying. If someone has to send something in an E-mail, rather than endlessly forwarding something like that, E-mail people a web link. If one mindlessly forwards a chain letter, it allows a lot of people to collect E-mail addresses that should remain private, and the latest generation of spam takes advantage of it.

Not to show disrespect to the reality and horror of child abuse, but I HATE getting maudlin crap like this over email, complete with bad rhyme scheme and delivering its message with all the finesse of a ball-peen hammer to the face, and I'm not too keen on running into it in foo. I've got a whole bunch that well-meaning family members used to fill my inbox with, I could post 'em. Sound like fun?
