Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Looking pretty good so far. Pylon racer, little long to be a GeeBee though. :)
about 2 ft too long for a super sportster R-2(what Im trying to make LOL) , but im having issues getting the tail and canopy shaped right........the design software is hard to use, once thats fixed I can shrink it a bit to make it fit specs...........after that I can apply textures(maybe, havent done that before)
side and top profiles would help. Google is little help finding an good reference image of the R2 to compare with either.

? ?
Limitations of the software is probably your biggest problem to doing it as close as one would like I would imagine.
^^^ ya thats it, im finding its easier to make parts big then shrink it(more detail and easier to see), and some parts are just hard to make
I know they didnt make very many, but I swear each pic ive seen its a bit different.
Yeah, noticed the same thing when I was searching, lots of different planes being called the R-2. One thing that's likely going to be really difficult to do would be to taper the body into the tail more, and the tail looks too tall from the image attached, and too straight in the front. But that could just be the angle I'm seeing it at. I used to draw a fair number of airplanes when I was younger and more into aviation (and actually had free time to do artwork). One of my favorite would be modified WWII style aircraft in a racer style look. The sleek flowing lines. More along the lines of a Hawker Sea Fury than the GeeBee:

^^ one of the fastest prop planes ever built, I think the grumman F8F is the fastest pylon racer conversion IIRC
and people think car racers are nuts LOL
Id like to get an online version of pylon racing going, that would be cool. Did it awhile back with fsim98, but people couldnt seem to get together all at once very often. Or maybe do some cross country challenges like they used to do using stock planes of the era with online weather.
You're making me want to buy a new version of Flight Sim. Haven't had a new version since, oh, 2000 I think. I bought 05 for a friend of mine for christmas a few years back, meant to get it for myself when it got cheap, never did. Was going through my MMO phase before more or less stoping playing computer games of any sort all together.
I could certianly see the F8F being a good one for Pylons. As much as I love the old P-38 it's got too much bulk and size for that sort of gig. I'm still trying to find time to go out to LA where one of my dad's old friends owns a T-6 Texan, or down to Fla where his other old flying buddy has a Yak-55 and a Boeing Steaman. Been up in the Steaman once, but I bet that Yak would be a blast.
