Lookin' for some help here all; currently tearin' my MTB down to get it ready for the upcoming season, and I'm having trouble pulling my XT crankset off; was wondering if anyone had any tips/suggestions to remove the cap on the non-drive side, as the cheesey little plastic tool is a pain to work with. I'm welcome to any ideas/suggestions/helpful hints that others have used.

Thanks.

B.

Ok. That little plastic cap should be tightened to like 4Nm. This is barely finger tight. If you can't remove it with the Shimano tool, you need to buy the Park version which has more leverage available. You should loosen the two pinch bolts first though, you know that, right? When they're loose, there's a lot less pressure on the plastic cap (obviously!) and so it's much easier to loosen. Once that's off, the whole thing should just slip right out! It's really very easy, promise!

If it doesn't slip right out give it a tap with a rubber mallet..
