Anyone else here suffer from RLS? It is getting really bad for me and I'm not sleeping well at all.
My husband has it and got treatment for it. It was affecting our marriage and our work. What a relief when he finally found a treatment that works.
Too many people think that RLS is a "made up" disease, and we both heard a lot of "it's all in your head" and "get more exercise, it'll go away." But it's very real and treatable.

RLS can get very bad. Find a sleep lab around you and sign yourself up. There are treatments out there as katie mentiones. Do your research first though.
A study recently found that restless legs seem to be strongly linked to neurotransmitter deficiencies. Medication with SSRIs appear to have a positive effect. I learned this from a friend who has restless legs and knows his stuff.

Wow....If my wife told me that something like a sleep disorder was affecting our marriage I would have been crushed.

I use to get it pretty bad and it would keep me up all night long. I would end up sitting on my couch at 4am watching infomercials hopeing to fall asleep. I know its not the "proper" treatment for it but i started taking lortab and I would sleep great, but they can get addictive and I was just taking some that were leftovers from an accident. I switched to sleeping pills and took Ambien at first. I didnt like it cause it made me feel like I just spent the whole night drinking tequila and the room was spinning, but it made me sleep. Then i switched to Lunesta and it was the best. I went to sleep gently and stayed asleep, and when I woke up I was fully rested. I only took it on the nights I know my legs were going to be restless. Within 20 minutes of laying in bed I could tell if I was in for a bad nights sleep and then I would take one Lunesta. After a few months of taking Lunesta my RLS was gone and I havent had any reaccuring problems with it in almst a year. I guess my brain finally got used to sleeping at night or something.

I used to get it really bad but it went away when I started riding and exercising almost every day. I also increased my water intake and stretch at least every other day. I am alright for about 3 days without exercise but any longer and I cant keep my legs still.

Try quinine tablets, worked for me.
BTW there is no longer quinnine in tonic water.
This may sound really weird but I get where I'm thrashing about in bed and my wife is ready to pitch me into the street and I can eat something sugary and it will sometimes settle me down a little. If I'm restricting carbohydrates it seems to be worse. I sometimes suffer from depression and stress get to me too at work. When those two things are getting me the RLS gets even worse. SSRI's helped me sleep a little better but were hell on the sex life. The doctor wanted to perscribe something else for that and I said screw that and stopped the SSRI's.
