Foo - Solve my riddle

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
(Another thread in
Foo reminded me of
this poem/riddle I
wrote in 1999. PM me
if you can solve it.)
A poem for somebody who really cares

Mourn for the giant that I,
as I was playing harmonica, slew in Sky-
dome. You all say I blew
him away. You are no
God, think what you will - I am JC. Lint on
a white house carpet?
It gives offence to no-one.

Don't worry, I'll repost the riddle every year on my birthday 'til someone gets it!

We have a winner!!!
bluebottle1, you are the first one to figure that out ever.
Any more solvers out there? A couple of others are sniffing down the right general trail.

No. Too brain dead. And I'm too lazy to think politically. Nice avatar, baybuh! That should be worth a red star, though you already have one.
There is no answer. It is not even a riddle. A riddle has clues. Some easy, some not. this thing makes no sense at all. The OP doesn't even give a hint as to what kind of riddle it is. We need something to go on here. There is absolutley nothing in any internet search I did on this thing anywhere. Therefore it does not exist.
Is it political? Is it mathmatical? What?

Heh, heh. There is more to it. But I know I can't get my head about it so late, after so long a day and so many Modelo Negros....
Let's see if I can pick this apart.
1. Mourn referes to someone mourning or being sad about something. But what or who?
2. Giant referes to a well known or popular political or sports figure perhaps. But who?
3. Harmonica referes to playing of or enjoyment of music.
4. Skydome referes to the nations capitol building or maybe a sports dome? But which one & where?
5. Blew him away referes to the figure is male & he was either killed or amazed at the musical enjoyment. Maybe?
6. You are no god, I think this means the person is being humble or humbled. But which?
7. JC is someones initials. But who's? Jimmy Carter perhaps?
8. I think White House is very obvious. No guessing here.
9. It gives no offence means what ever it is it is not offending.
Am I even close here?

Some of what you say is slightly relevant but you're not close to solving it.

Well, glad I got it. I won't give away the secret, though. Quite a clever little puzzle.

Then give us a freaking clue or hint, huh?!
Is the Skydome refering to this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogers_Centre
Is the music part refereing to a concert?
What parts are relevant?
I am going to send this to as many people at work as I can to get it figured out. Once it is figured out I'll send a PM to see if it is correct.

The hints are in there.
It's true that the Rogers Centre (home of the Toronto Blue Jays) used to be called Skydome, although you don't need to know that for this puzzle.
The only parts of the OP that you can really ignore are the introductory remarks (in italics) above the poem title.

Best mass-marketed Mexican beer out there, imho!
I can't figure out the riddle...but I'm not really trying. :)
It's no riddle since there is no question.
Something about Joe carter hitting a home run in the world series?

Nope, but you're the second person to suggest that.

that was my thought. joe's walk off homer against mitch williams in the '93 world series.
also, johnny cash played harmonica and covered (ghost) riders in the sky. the poem was copyrighted in 1999. johnny cash was on vh1 storytellers around that time.

Nope. There are specific hints in the item.
