My wife showed me this article in the Maine Sunday Telegram about Aegis Racing Bikes, a small manufacturer of high end bikes in northern Maine (about 20 miles from where I grew up). Pretty interesting...Back in the Race (http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/business/stories/070325aegis.html)
Wow! What a great story! I wish them great success!
BTW, are you anywhere near Thorndike? My sister and her family live there. Although I think it's more centeral Maine...

Mmmmm... Aegis. The Aero Svelt with a Record Carbon group usually plays an active roll in all of my wet dreams.

Great article Randy thanks. Knew a lot of good people from Van Buren. Wish them and Aegis well.

I've owned an Aro Svelte since 2001. It is a very comfortable bike. I had no idea that the company had fallen into such financial trouble. Good to hear that they seem to be back.

One of the high-ranking muckety-mucks in my cycle club (who is an awesome ride leader/coach/information resource) has an Aegis. I get drool all over my jersey whenever we ride together.

The unique Aro Svelte model is a cool bike, especially with that attractive sweeping seat tube. They cost about $2500.00 for a base frame with fork. Take a look at the bottom bracket cluster when you see one live, it appears to be of very durable construction with lots of carbon fiber layered-up.

Not to mention they're also an honest-to-goodness American company.
