Why are the colors of many cool weather cycling jerseys and jackets so "dark"?
The days are shorter and there is less light (longer shadows, etc.) so dark clothes are harder to see.
Being highly visible is important in every season. Don't the cycling clothing manufacturers ride bikes?
Summer jerseys are VERY bright and colorful. Don't they think about safety in the fall and winter?

The reason is because darker colours are supposedly warmer to wear than lighter colours. However, you are right, that does provide a problem with visibility. I guess all you can do is wear a bright coloured rain jacket over the top of the lot or something.

In cool or cold weather, I wear a Pearl Izumi "Screaming Yellow" windbreaker on top of everything else. Now I wish I could find a matching back pack.
