None of those around here. The only white castle we have is a box of 6 little burgers in the frozen food aisle at the grocery store. Nontheless, they are very good still.

Compound interest has also been given that distinction.

This is easy. Science.

In the larger sense, civilisation is our great invention. But science is the pointy
end of the stick.

Btw, the internet is one of those technological revolutions. And Al Gore played
a crucial role shepherding the technology. Ask the guys who acutally built the internet. They love him.

the 427 was slapped into cars by the graces of Don Yenko. Carrol shelby used 289cu.in engines (Shelby GT350) and 428cu.in. Police Interceptor engines (Shelby GT500).

Glad to say I never had that problem from the burgers. Only thing that really did that to me was my first week of drinking 100% Whey Protien. Made me sick to my stomache and gassy. I also wasnt fond of the flavor, but now I love the stuff.

I got an electric thermos you plug in the lighter socket in your car. It keeps hot things hot as long as you want.

And to think that all those years we spent waiting for the oven to preheat, all anybody had to think of was to trade out the aluminum pie tin for one made out of hot pockets wrappers!

Think deep. Think geologic time. Think the movie 2001. I vote for "The Club." No, not the hair club for men. The stick or bone club that first allowed us to extent our influence over the World to beyond our own fingertips.

I wouldn't call things like fire and language inventions. Fire was discovered through chance, not invented and language evolved over many thousands of years, and wasn't invented either.

Writing, however, is an invention, and in my opinion the greatest in human history. With writing, ideas, knowledge and culture could be communicated over great distances and through time. Today, we can read texts written more than 5000 years ago. The same information would never have survived without written language, and very little information from the past would have survived at all.

Hairy roaches? Why would you need to clip your roaches?
Roach clip lets you hold the roach securely in a... clip. Then you can pin it to your shirt. Turn them into broaches.

I'd have to go with materials that didn't exist before and were used to create a "plethora" (yes I just said that) of other inventions. Examples are:

1.) plastics
2.) carbon fiber
3.) steel

Not necessarily in that order.

Along a different line of thought - Velcro has to be right up there. ;) :D
