Bah! You pooped out! I didn't get to see the finish. You were right there and turned off your A-Game right when you needed it.

Ever see American Flyers when Costner is going over his race video and he says "See! Right there! That's when I knew I was beat." or something like that and smiles at the camera?

2 more seconds and you would have been with the leaders.

Good job though, sticking with it right up to the end.

haha I was thinking of the exact same bit of that movie - at the beginning when Costner is trying to explain the essence of racing (disguised as "why I quit"). Everyone has that moment when they have to let the guy in front go. I just get there a lot quicker than others.

I was totally blown in that last lap. I describe it in more detail here (http://sprinterdellacasa.blogspot.com/2007/03/bethel-spring-series-bethel-cdp-gold.html). Watching the work I did in the wind did motivate me though. Hopefully I'll have a more respectable clip to put up next week.

What kind of camera are you using? How do you have it mounted?

I'm thinking of building a box to clamp under the bars/stem to hold my camera to get some footage.

Who was the Adler guy wearing the Yellow Jersey? Good race, but never give up. No defeat, No surrender.

Or something :)

Thanks again for the footage!

I love those helmet-cam movies....are you going to do any other races besides the Bethel ones this year with it?

sorry I didn't realize ppl were posting responses.

"kind of camera"
I describe it here (http://sprinterdellacasa.blogspot.com/2007/02/how-to-helmet-cam.html).

"shooting through the field"
After sprinting my favorite part of racing :)

"I was there... "
Yes I was, but I was feeling pretty bad the whole day. I figured I had nothing to lose on the last lap and when I couldn't get on the wheel of that guy I knew my seconds were running out quick. The "text" bit of the race is here (http://sprinterdellacasa.blogspot.com/2007/03/bethel-spring-series-bethel-cdp-gold.html).

"Adler guy"
Don't want to mention names but results from various weeks are here (http://www.carpediemracing.org/). They made a huge tactical error in letting a lot of strong guys get away.

"Any other races than Bethel?"
Well, I'll be going to Prospect Park (http://www.kissenasports.com/new_york_cycling_series.htm), probably Hartford, New Britain (x2 - Nutmeg State Games is there too). If schedule permits Ninigrets, maybe Bob Beals Masters, and I'm going to try and get some footage of Gimbles and more Summer St Sprints. Maybe Somerville and related races on Memorial Day. I don't do road races and rarely do stage races.

Glad everyone enjoys the clips.

My buddy/co-worker Jayson Hurd won the Cat 3's last year in the Bob Beals Masters race I believe....he's been mentoring me the past several months.

Why not road races? I'm sorta the opposite....I have no interest in crits, and would much rather do road races.

Nothing against road races personally, I just never finished with the main group ever. Not even close. I'm usually not the first to get dropped but I'm in the first 10 or 15. Usually I get caught and passed by another 3 or 4 different groups. Masters, Women, Juniors, 4's, 5's, etc etc. Last road race I did I was 20+ lbs lighter and I was eliminated on time. I view road races as a training ride with marshals stopping traffic for me :)

The only exception would be relatively flat races (I also don't want to drive more than a few hours to do a race). Bob Beals SR fits this from what I can tell.
