Well, after a year of drooling and agonizing over which bike to get I have finally completed my task. This past weekend I bought a new Marinoni Delta Extra which is just incredible. It is Columbus Airplane tubing with carbon rear triangle and Columbus Carve fork.

It comes totally spec'd out with some sweet components.

1. Full Dura-Ace components
2. FSA Pro Team Carbon Cranks
3. Ambrosio Excellight SSC Rims
4. Deda Magic Stem
5. FSA bars
6. Of course my favourite and trusted Speedplay X2 pedals

Pictures will follow as soon as I finish the roll.

Thanks to everyone for all your help over the past year in educating me on what is what about bikes and biking. I am looking forward to learning more from you all. Although, I may be riding a lot more now than spending my time reading the forum. (Just kidding :D ) (or not ;) )

I ended up test riding about 10 different bikes before finally deciding, but this one certainly came up the best overall. The others included:

Trek 5200
Cannondale R1000 and R2000
Giant TCR Composite 1 (very smooth ride but maybe just a little too smooth)
Argon 18 Platinum
Marinoni Delta
Marinoni Piuma and Piuma Extra
Airborne Valkyrie

All in all it was a fun day of test riding for sure. This may be the way to go for a good workout! Line up a bunch and take them all for a 5-10k test ride.
:)

Thanks again for everything!

I'm going riding!!!!

Congratulations on your new bike, I’m very envious. I went and looked at a 15-year-old Marinoni touring bike yesterday and it was so nice, but too small for me. I think I may order a new one this winter.
Have fun on your new bike.

Congrats from me too!

What made you decide on the Marinoni vs. the other?

Can't wait for the pics either! :D

There were a few reasons I decided on the Marinoni:

I didn't like the feel of the Trek 5200. It was rougher than my current steel bike. I'm not sure where the smoothness was that everyone talks about with these bikes. I just didn't like it.

The Argon 18 Platinum was an explosive machine but the ride was quite harsh. Beautiful looking bike and great workmanship though. Price was quite high as well for comparitively equal components.

The Giant TCR 1 was just beautiful to ride but it was a bit pricy for the specs that came on it. I think it is almost a little too soft but it sure was nice. Almost like riding on a cloud. I think if I was doing very long rides all the time I would go for it but most of my rides are around the 2 hour mark.

The Cannondales were really nice rides and I was quite surprised at how smooth they were for an aluminum rear end. The Kysrium SL wheelset on the R2000 just about had me convinced to go with it but once I had tried the Marinoni it was no contest. Someday I do want that wheelset on my Marinoni though!!!

The ride of the Marinoni is very smooth but very dynamic. It is like a little rocket underneath you. The Piuma's were nice rides but I didn't like the feel as much as the aluminum. The Delta without the rear carbon triangle was a super ride but once I tried that carbon rear end I was hooked. The Carbon cranks were just an added bonus which I wasn't really looking for but they were on the bike so I decided.....why not. They sure look good. :D

It was lots of fun trying these bikes out but in the end I think I made the right decision.

That's the one. Mine is the AB4 color scheme (this is what they call it). http://www.marinoni.qc.ca/html/eng_colours.htm#

If the link does not work you can see it under the frames section and colors. I am hoping to have pictures within a week or so.

The Carbon cranks look so sweet on it!

What a nice ride. I can't stop smiling!:) :) :) :) :) :D

Actually, when I was trying out new road bikes a couple of years ago, I remember I tried out a few. The Specialized, I wasn't too crazy about. The Trek I did not like at all. The best ones (in my price range) were the Marinoni and the GT. I really liked the Marinoni, however, I did end up getting the GT which I really love. Besides, this is montreal and there are only 80 zillion marinonis, at least I'm an individual. But I did like the way the Marinoni felt and it was very comfortable.

Nice review on all the test bikes! I'm always curious as to people's opinions on the CAAD7s. Congrats again! :)

CAAD7 = Best alluminium frame available at the moment IMO

Congratulations, Captain Crunch! You got yourself a beautiful machine. I haven't seen a Marinoni before; nice of you to broaden my horizon.

She deserves regular portions of tarmac. Show her the world!

I started a new thread with some pictures posted. Take a look when you get a chance. It's been getting a good run in the week but with rain today it will have to stay indoors. Boo Hoo!
