Hi guys
I am a 60 yo rider. For the past 7 years I have been monitoring an ascending aortic aneurysm. Until my
last CT scan it has been stable at 5.0 cm. At the last scan several weeks ago, my cardiologist indicated
it has expanded to approx. 5.4 cm. So I have an appt with a cardiothoracic surgeon here in Boston
next week to get his input.
I'd sure like to hear from folks who have had this problem. And in particular I'd LOVE to hear from any
heart surgeons who are dedicated riders!
For now when I ride I have been trying to keep heart rate ~ 130-140. I am taking Norvasc and Toprol
to keep BP low. I sure would hate to give up cycling, but if riding with this condition is likely to cause
me to expire while riding I may have to.
Any input?
