This weekend, I am touring down to Shiloh National Battlefield from Franklin, TN. I plan on doing 50 miles a day. The total trip will be around 250 miles. I am leaving Friday and will be back on Tuesday. Can't Wait!!!

If you haven't yet, you should read Shelby Foote's novel "Shiloh," a fictionalized account of the Battle of Shiloh. It's a fairly quick read and a brilliant piece of writing. Pick it up quick and read it on your ride.

Or, I'll bet they sell it in the battlefield gift shop. Buy it there and read it on the way home.

Have a great tour!

I am excited. I have never been to Shiloh and have wanted to go for a while. I figured that this weekend would be a great to do my second tour and be able to see the battlefield too.

Riding within the Shiloh park is very nice. When we lived in Corinth, MS it was my favorite ride. The redneck roads you have to take to get there..., good luck and be careful. Although I imagine you can bring the Trace most of the way down.

Do you have your accomadations well planned around Shiloh? There isn't a whole lot there except for the battlefield.

I am only going down to see the battlefield and then will be heading back. I have never been there. I will have 3 days of supplies with me, which will be plenty until I get to Savannah.
