I'm looking for a good group to ride with in the San Antonio area. Anyone have a good group or know of one?

You can check out several at:

But this is an underground group that might apeal to some ---they do a regular Last Friday night ride,Which is the best time in the hot So tX:

I think almost everyone was blown away by the Bike Gang Summit. THIS WILL NOW BE AN ANNUAL EVENT.

Thanks have to go out to everyone who helped out in different ways - Beto (Mantecatron) for the flyer, Justin for offering up 1906 and helping with promotion and improv-ing on the route, Potter-Belmar Labs for doing their video performance, The Current for promotion, and everyone else who helped in different ways - The Marfa Lights, Alicia and Carlos the Carpenter, Marc and all the LFers (including Ben), Nico and Gang Green, the guys who blocked traffic for everybody, the dudes at the bike shops who helped spread the word, Bob for his guerilla landscaping, and everyone else who I don't even know, but you know who you are. And lastly, Lone Star beer.

And now, the money shots. Here are photos Marc ("Elliot" from the E.T. gang) took:

And here is a HUGE collection of photos from Justin (they're full res, and can be used to make prints, sweet, right?):

If anyone else has a bunch of photos, then send me the link and I can send them out to everyone.

And of course, spread this email to all the gang members who didn't make the list. They can email me, and then they'll be on the list.

SO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? - there will be another HUGE ride in the Fall. On HALLOWEEN. "But I have a party to go to at Sally's lame apartment." Ridiculous. The Bike Gang Summit WILL BE the party. Marinate on this. All good things in good time. More details further down the road.

And for those who never saw it, check out this interesting website: www.stopthebikesummit.com
It was put together by a cantankerous retired military Colonel who hates bike gangs and our bike gang summit in particular. He's sort of an amateur historian and professional *******. But he has his charms. By our enemies you shall know us.

Oh, there might be a bike tour(alley cat?) to coincide with Contemporary Art Month this Summer. This will probably be more of a word of mouth type of thing. Contact me if interested, including gallery people who want to be part of the deal. Tatum? Justin?

Again, thanks to everyone for showing up on Saturday! And I will see you all in the Fall.

best,

Mark Jones

P.S. There is a smaller, monthly ride that meets on the last friday of every month in front of the Alamo at 9pm. Gangs, no. Riding bikes and drinking beer, yes. The rides go roundtrip for about an hour and a half total, with one destination in mind, and a return to downtown for drinks. Less frequent HUGE events I think are more interesting to me but I have fun organizing this as well. Here's the crappy myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/downtownhighlifebicycle in case anyone wants to join for updates. Soon, I will have a real and much more legit site for Downtown Highlife where I and a few others will add info and images on bide rides and other off-issue, tangential San Antonio topics. So yeah, I'll send you another message about that and then stay out of your hair.

ADIOS!
