Signed up for my first tri, it is Sunday, April 15, 2007 ::: Shelbyville, Kentucky: Max Performance Triathlon Series Race #3. Started running to get back into shape after 'corporate cube world' ruined me. I have done several 5K's over the last 6 months, started riding a bike last summer, and was a swimmer back when. So what the hell, figured I would give it a try.

Congratulations and good luck. What are the distances?

Is the race all outdoors? That may sound like an odd question from where you are, but I've my first race (a modified sprint distance) the week after and at this time of year in Seattle, it's all indoors.

# Race #1 February 4: 3K Run/6 Mile Bike/400 yd Swim
# Race #2 March 4: 5K Run/12 Mile Bike/400 yd Swim
# Race #3 April 15: 400 yd Swim/6 Mile Bike/3K Run (starting here)
# Race #4 May 13: 400 yd Swim/12 Mile Bike/5K Run

Swim is indoors, bike run outdoors. I am going to also give race #4 a go. This a pre-season race series, I missed the first two races but have heard very good things from other racers who use this series as a warm up for the season.My understanding is that these events are beginner friendly which will be nice. http://www.headfirstperformance.com/Max%20Performance/Series.htm
