Wanted to do a La Tuna ride from GP this Saturday and wondering if anyone has a good route slip for that ride. I have seen majenkin routeslip on routeslip.com just wondering how many other rides are out there. Thanks in advance.
Hey Serg...come ride with us on Sat...we are doing La Tuna, up to foothill, Kagel /Lopez and out to Rinaldi, up Wilbur, Tampa and Sesnon...some good climbing!!
Similar to this http://www.routeslip.com/routes/1156
but not as far out as this route...we will do about 60...but we could add the rest of this if we want...
I think n2glock is going to try to join us as well!

Hi Herb have not seen you for a long time, I knew I should have just asked you.
I have about 2 1/2 hours on Saturday morning then have to spend time with family. I may just start with you guys then come back before or after Kagel. I've never been on La Tuna or Kagel just wanted to give it a try.

Hey there Serge. I've got a nice little training route which starts at GP then takes me up La Tuna and then thru Montrose and Descanso Gardens. I then take Chevy Chase down to Glenoaks and Sonora back down to GP. I don't think you'll have any problems completing it in 2.5 hrs. I'll try and create the route on routeslip.com and I'll PM it to you. If you get a chance, you should hook up with mark and herb on sat. they are really good company. Unfortunately I won't be able to join them sat. but things look good for sun.

That would be great....I think you will like them...La Tuna is fairly tough...mainly just a long climb (4miles) ..not too terrible of a grade....Kagel is a bit tougher in parts....but sweet downhill!

What time do you guys plan on rolling out?
We plan on leaving from Glenoaks Blvd and Naomi St in Burbank @ 8:30
There is a 7-11 on the corner and parking on Naomi St...
This will not be a hammerfest....we figure to do approx 60 miles w/4400ft elevation
There are turn around points for anyone who has time issues...
I would suggest carrying a pbj and some gels/bars....
we do make water and potty stops...

Couldn't bring it up for some reason. If you do decide to do it and you feel like you are not gonna make it back in time you can cut the ride down by riding down Verdugo Rd. to Glenoaks then Sonora and to the zoo.

Hammerfest or no hammerfest, I will try my hardest to make this ride. BTW, I ended up bowing to the "Porcelain God" last nite at my parents. Don't really know what happened, but I definitely got a bug of some kind. I was feeling woosy today until about lunch time and seem to be okay now. Just got back a little while ago from doing a 30 mile Montrose loop. I'll PM Mark on sat. and let him know if I'll be showing.

One from last year for someone that flew in from Chicago and was staying at the Holiday Inn in Burbank. Just reverse the order, substitute Sonora for Angeleno, and disregard the latitude & longitude.

i would be happy to do the full ride. nice job. we only rode 1/2 the route you guys are the badzz. our route had 36 miles and Elevation Gain +3,028 / -3,027 according to motionbased. since the moment we turned on Glenoaks it took about 15 min back to the car we almost missed it.

15 min..wow...you guys must have been flying...but I think it was only 5 or 6 miles...
We definitely need to do this again!

I mapped out a route of a ride I did with the Different Spokes club on routeslip.com look up my rides under the same name (urbanknight), if it will work for you.
Herb/Mark,
just wanted to say thanks for a fantastic ride and company today.
I also enjoyed you and Jack riding with us. You two are easy to get along with. I hope we can do it again sometime. I have to tell you we are not as bad@__ as we would like to think. Here is why. Herb and I are 34 miles into our 60 mile ride turning left off Rinaldi Street onto Wilbur going north for another climb. We are both together just a couple of bicycle lengths apart with me in front. A squirrel appears on my right along the sidewalk and grass partition to the street. I am thinking oh how cute the squirrel is running along with my bike heading for the next tree. Nope, the squirrel rounds the tree and proceeds to pace me to the next tree. Now I know the squirrel is going to hightail it up this tree. No, the squirrel is pacing for the third leg and is checking me out over his left shoulder. Herb sees what is going on too and makes comment. The climb is getting steeper with our pace steady as we slowly spin it out. The squirrel takes us on for a fourth leg. He looks over his left shoulder at me as to say okay lets go. He lays down the hammer on us and drops us both like we were parked. We got dropped by a squirrel!
See you at the L.A. River ride if we do not see each other before hand.
Don’t for get to check out and I encourage you and Jack to sign up for Cool Breeze (http://www.cibike.org/page5.html) . Registration opens this month for the August 18th ride.
Jack also wanted to know more about Rudy Project (http://www.rudyprojectusa.com/home.htm) sport glasses so maybe you can pass this along to him. Thanks.

Likewise Mark. Thanks for letting us tag along, I would do it again anytime. I will pass on the links.
Dropped by a squirrel!!! I ran over a garden snake on one of the climbs (by mistake, I saw him too late) so that he does not drop me! You must have seen him on the road as well.
