Please help spread the word about the BikeDFW bus charter trip to TBC's Cyclists in Suits in Austin on Monday April 23rd. It is a 1 day round trip coach bus ride to Ausin and back for 34.00 per person.
With Safe passing, funding cuts, The Anna Bike ban and increasingly narrow roads with less money to build them, we really do need to all "JUST SHOW UP" in Austin in big numbers this year.
I know people will say they have BTDT and gotten the T-shirt but we must be persistent and relentless, we must not give up and we must just keep showing up. If we quit showing up the battle is over. And just a few of us can't show up for all of us, we need YOU ALL to show up too!
Details about the bus trip are on our web site - it is our hope to have 200 people from DFW "Just Show Up" in Austin and let our reps and state agencies know we really do give a hoot and that cycling does indeed matter.
34.00 and a day off work is a small price to pay I think. It's now or never... and never scares me.
Ticket Sales are up and running on our website. We are really hoping that out of all of the thousands of cyclists in North Texas that 200 would go and show the folks who represent us that people from these parts DO want safe passing to pass (THat way the cops around here will KNOW we belong on the road!)
Numbers matter here, so lets SHOW UP and show our state legislators that we CARE about cycling in Texas! We want funding for wider outside lanes, shoulders on narrow roads, bike and trail projects! We want the Safe Passing Bill!
Leave your bikes at home, and come dressed to impress and wear good walking shoes. Plan to spend the day meeting your state representatives, shaking hands and talking to them about cycling. Afterwards we will attend a reception held by TBC.
If you are riding the BP-MS150, we will be glad to bring you home to DFW - simply purchase a ticket and stay in Austin an extra night.
34 bucks. Chalk it up as Insureance to protect our access to the roads. And hey if you can't go yourself, buy a ticket for somebody else who can go!
