Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I have an older bike I am ready to part with (1955 Schwinn Corvette) 3 speed, front rat trap
It's in pretty good shape. I figure I could get some good advise on the best place to advertise it.
Perhaps a vintage auction or dedicated classic site?
I was told its worth about $600
I have never yet sold on ebay but if you think thats worth considering?
Thanks for input!

WE NEED PICS!!!! (standard lead in to any question on sales and/or value)
If it is in anything less than showroom condition, I think $600 is high. I bought mine for $10. Of course, it is taking me a hundred or more to get it into the shape I want, and I don't want a showpiece. If your definition of "pretty good shape" is the same as mine, I would think maybe $200. My definition is ready to ride without significant rust, and with the chrome relatively intact with maybe a little pitting. Of course sometimes I am surprised at what a bike sells for on eBay compared to others that seem similar on the surface.
eBay would be a good place to look for completed auctions, but look in the Collectables section, not Sporting goods. That is where most of the older Schwinns can be found on eBay. Look for Corvettes or Jaguars for prices. The Jaguar seems to be a Corvette with a tank added, so would be a little more expensive.
My stable includes a 1955 Corvette and a 1961 Jaguar IV?. Both in stages of reassembly at the moment.
If your intent is to maximize profit rather than keeping the bike together for someone to love, you could part it out (although it may take a while). I have seen nice S-7 wheels sell for more than whole bikes... And part of that could be the cost of shipping the whole bike.
Where are you located? That could make a difference in value as well.
A corvette for $10 do you have any photos to compare to the $600 one

Right now it is apart, waiting for penetrating oil to soak in to see if I can get the stem out of it. If not, I will do what I can without removing it... I only want to remove it to polish it, and repack the head set.
The rims and spokes are no more, the hubs are waiting to be laced to a new rim using new spokes. The spokes for one have been purchased from a guy on eBay somewhere between us. I bought 3 sets before I got the Jaguar so I would have some spares, and ended up needing another set. I decided to build the Jaguar wheels first because I didn't think I was going to find a key part at the right price. The wheels are virtually identical except for a couple of differences based on year. Rims were bought from another BFN member based on my message in the ISO/WTB thread.
I am not quite sure whether I will paint it (with a foam brush) before assembly or not,,, If I do, it will be roughly the same color as when you sold it to me. Blue :D
I did spend $30 to get relatively accurate decals for it (except for the seat tube, which is more like my 1961 Jaguar).
The crank and chainring cleaned up fairly well, and I have a pair of non-period correct bow pedals. The ones I have are newer, with a reflector.
I think this is still the bike of the 2 that I will turn into a chopper (rams horn bars and banana seat) to emulate my high school bike, which was my intent when I bought it. The rams horn bars were mis-shipped by FedEx ground to California, but should be here within a week... that was the part I was having trouble finding affordable part for.
But once all that gets assembled, with or without paint, I'll get a picture.
Thanks for asking. :)
EDIT: Here is the original post I made when I got the bike (notice the front rack hooked to the back of the seat) It was completely ridable when I got it, but in need of some tender care.
