Introductions - Hello from Saskatchewan

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi everyone!
I have been reading this board for a while and figured it was time to post.
Anyway, I enjoy many forms of riding from x-country on my 05 Caldera to touring.
I have just started fixing up my 80's road and touring bikes (Raleighs and Nishiki) so I may be asking a few q's now and then.

Hello ricohman, I have I forget how many Nishikis now, but I love them. Got a Raleigh, too. Come and visit with us in the Classic & Vintage forum, and bring pics!
Welcome to BF!

Thanks for the welcome!
I live just outside of Regina.
The only problem I'm finding is that Canada got slightly different parts and frames, not to mention names than the U.S.
Did Nishiki sell the Continental in the U.S or was it a Canada only model?

If I am not mistaken, the Continental was a Canada only model.
Check in with the local experts at the Classic & Vintage forum, though.
You must bring pictures :D .
If you don't, I shall overwhelm you by listing all six, yes six, Nishikis I own.
Worse, I may post photos of them all here!

You've taken very good care of your Nishiki, that's a beauty! Not to mention that you must be very tall :D .
First photo is my 1979 Nishiki Pro. I had just gotten it, which is why it's not got a front tyre!

Second, 1987 Nishiki Prestige:

Eventually I'll add the Nishiki International. I'm picking that one up in California in a few weeks :D .

I would like to see pics of the International when you get it.
From what I have read the International is the equivelent to the Continental.

Hi Ricohman, welcome to Bikeforums. It's an amazing source of information. Glad to see another Saskatchewan guy here. I grew up in Saskatoon and spent 7 years in Melville. I moved to Ontario in 1999. See you on the boards.

Yes, I have that same understanding. I will certainly put up photos of the International when I get it.
