Does anyone know if Carradice bags are sold anywhere in southern Ontario? I was thinking of Arkel panniers but am intrigued by the Carradice bags.

Can't tell you where to get them in Canada. But I sure can attest to their usefulness.
I carried a pair of Carradice SuperC's for 1300 miles along the US Atlantic Coast. They
are great bags and the manufacturer backs up their product. I had a conflict with a
SRAM Dual Drive shift box and the pannier on that side. An email to Carradice had the
problem fixed within the week; and I am in the States and they are in Britain!

I have used my Super Cs for over 5 years. The shape, materials, design and construction are first rate, better than just about every other bag. Only Ortleib come close, but in warm wet conditions you gear can get manky in these sealed bags.
The Arkel bags seem to be quite a complicated design with lots of zips, and they are quite heavy. The attatchment system, whilst strong and reliable, is slow and fiddly compared to clip-on systems; not really suitable for hopping around town, more suitable for attatchment in the morning and removal at night.
Ive had 2 crashes with panniers attatched. A 10ft slide down a road resulted in a bit of wear at the corner, another resulted in some cosmetic damage to the bar bag. In both cases, the friction would have melted a nylon pannier.
