Bicycle Mechanics - Making a better suspension seat post

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I have several seat posts that use rubber bumpers, spacers(whatever you want to call them) and one uses a combo rubber and spring. However, both are prone to sticksion  . I keep thinkning that a shock system like on cars would work a lot better. I do have the one that has the exposed rubber bumper and a double pivit system also. It seems to be void of sticksion, but it does not respond to changes that great. So, I still think that a shock system would not be prone to sticksion and would respond to changes better. Especially the small bump reaction would be better.
Any body have experience with one of the air shock systems I see coming from Taiwan?

Take a banana seat, like the kind on a Schwinn Stingray. Unbolt the rear of the seat from the vertical braces that connect it to the bike frame. Tie an innertube to the top center of the rear seat brace, and bolt the other end of the tube to the rear end of the banana seat. The rear end of the seat should now hang down a bit, suspended by several wraps of innertube. And there you go...instant softride beam for your rat rod :D

For a true no-stiction ride, maybe something with needle bearings, like a Cannondale Lefty fork?
Or a Softride beam bike?

That is a good thought. If the Lefty doesn't have problems, then the same design could be used. It seems to me that the same forces would apply to both.
