Will ANY suntour derailleur work? I know i need long cage but does it matter what model and/or year?

This is the one i am looking at. It is newer and my Suntour accushift shifters are older so just making sure it will work.

Theoretically, versions of indexing are generally pretty dedicated. I know that Firstflight Bikes has a nice history of Suntour components and you should do a Google search as well 'cause there is another good history floating around out there. I have mixed things over the years with varying success - if you can afford it, you can always take a chance. (On my Bianchi Volpe all-around fun bike, I am running Suntour Command shifters with a Precision Billet RD & a Campy FD and things work at 98%.)

instead of equalizing the space between each cog on the freewheel/cassette like shimano and campagnolo did. suntour had kept their old freewheels and called them "accushift" even though the spacing was still as it was before index shifting.

the only way to make that work is to get the accushift freewheel that gos with it.
i would notm bother, that is not part of "classic" suntour anyways. the plastic stuff was their downfall

It has the suntour freewheel. That is why i need to stick with the suntour derailleur. That and because it has the suntour accushift shifters as well.
