Fifty Plus (50+) - Post crash

I was in the 101st Airborne for 3 years and made 29 jumps and hit pretty hard sometimes, but I never felt as bad as I do now. I laid a motorcycle down at 45 mph and nothing like now. I must be getting old or something and can't take it anymore like I use to. What I can't believe is, I went riding the day after and didn't feel that bad, but yesterday and today, WOW, it's another story. How are you doing CrossChain? I hope better than me.

Ibuprofen is the friend of the aged and infirm. I've noticed what you are going through too, day 1, not that bad, day 2, WOW, day 3 WOW again, and then it gets better pretty quick. Here's hoping you feel better soon. Exercise helps me.

Haven't had a bad off for a few years but the day after a crunch- you do not feel too bad. 2 days after and it is time to get the anaelgesic out. I do not use Ibruprofen pills- as they can cause a few side effects, and do in me. The cream though works on the Muscles and I use Surgical spirit on the cuts. Stings like mad for a couple of minutes but does keep the abrasions clean.
As to those Jumps and heavy landings- I bet you were a bit younger when they occurred.
If you cannot get back on the bike for a while- keep the exercise up in some way. Start walking- digging the garden- raking the lawn- Anything to get some mobility into the stiff bits. Sorry about the accident and hope the bikes OK.

+1. Pretty much the same as all above. Stiff in the morning, but I keep moving with some light exercise to stay loose. Went for a moderate ride yesterday (Day 1). But today, lower back was sore so I weinied out and put the bike on the trainer and just spun easy and watched "Ride the High Country" (no pun meant) with Randolph Scott. Hope to do the Sunday ride with friends tomorrow.
Ibuprofen helps. I put on some Sportscreme mostly because I like the way it smells. I agree that being older means we don't bounce as well anymore. I recall skiing moguls and nasty wipe-outs I would shrug off years ago. Now, I hate to think of it. I think you're worse off, George...I came down in some sandy soil.....you hit a lot harder it seems. Keep moving, keep the ibuprofen going....be patient. I hope you cleaned out the road rash....if you go into AcuteCare, they scrub it with this dobie-like sponge....you'll vow never to ride again in that case.....;)
Hang in there George, you've never been this old before either.;) I'm thinking if you were to make those 29 jumps at your present age it would be a different story. You were a kid then, indestructable. Oh, and you're admitting that you jumped out of a perfectly good airplane 29 times?:lol:
I think it does take a couple of days for muscles to realize they are banged up. Advil is a good pain reliever... just don't take too much, just one to help you sleep at night and maybe one during the day just to be able to get out of bed and do things you need to do. Take the smallest dose you really need and when you begin to feel better (you'll just know), you can taper off or quit. I am speaking from experience but not in the falling-off-the-bike department (and I pray I never will:eek:).
Also, eat healthy foods to feed your body as it heals and recovers. Good nutrition -- and rest -- can't be over-emphasized.
