Started investigating getting back into riding again. Used to ride as a kid, banana seat bike & a 3 speed. As a 20-something rode to work(Fullerton, CA, on a Schwinn Suburban) in the 70's and used my bike in Reserve, New Mexico on pavement for recreation rides. Moved around to various places with rocky dirt roads, no bike shops, so stopped. Want to start riding again on something comfortable but well built. Now in my 50's, have access to 4 bike shops within 10 miles of home so have been shopping around. Decided the X-box stores probably wouldn't suit so have been looking at entry level ladies bikes like Trek Navigator, Sun cruisers, Specialized Expedition, Gary Fisher Capitola, etc. Haven't been to the shops with Giant. Saw a used Breezer Citizen (3 speed) for $349. Might go back for another look & test ride. I have to admit to sticker shock when I saw a used Schwinn Suburban for double what I paid new!

Hello Rosie8, what part of central Arizona would that be?

If you are used to old steel bikes, there's nothing wrong with getting one to fix back up, although I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Suburban.

If you look at this thread:

You can see some of my bikes, including a couple of very comfortable mixtes :) .

Welcome to BF!

Very nice looking bikes. Thanks for the howdy. Am living in Prescott Valley area about 4 miles from Prescott airport. Walk my labs every morning about 3 miles and get to see antelope occasionally. The weather here is very similar to Pine, AZ, where I lived before moving here. Elevation about 5200 ft. makes for great climate although we get fierce spring winds.

I took a quick look at the Phoenix CL, and I have to say there isn't much in there except for mountain bikes, although I did see an old listing for a Specialized Allez (52 or 54cm) for $400. That wouldn't be a bad choice if you want to do road riding.

That's a tough area!

Decided on a Simple 7 Giant, cruiser style for casual riding. I prefer slow going & relaxing in the fresh air. Have been riding in the garage on an old recumbent exercise bike this past year.
