While some BFer's were up in Solvang doing the double century, I met up with some nice folks from Classic Rendezvous this morning in Chinatown to do their Bridge Ride. I received email from Chuck, a fellow fixie rider, the other day about this ride. Since I only live a couple of miles away from Chinatown I decided to do this ride. It was a very nice, relaxing, short, casual social ride which crossed over a dozen or so bridges over the LA River. I've lived in LA for over 35 years and I saw so many things today for the first time, up close. Coming back through busy downtown was a blast! I really had a good time and met a bunch of new folks today. Also, I was there representing BF...:D
Wow..that looks like a fun ride....wish we knew about it!! I would have done that...

Aww man! I wish I could've done that. And I was in downtown today, too! I was doing a bunch of work-related errands, feeling surly the whole time because I was working and couldn't go for a ride on such a nice day. I could have at least done SAG! ;)

I had never ridden with this group before so I had no idea what I was expecting. Well, one thing I somewhat did expect and wasn't surprised to see.....so many Brooks saddles!! :D
Anyway, if they announce this or another similar ride again, I will definitely post here.
But on the first Sunday of every month, this group does their classic & vintage ride from the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center. I've known about this monthly ride for some time now but never had a chance to join them because I work Sundays. There is a ride tomorrow, btw. I think they said 10am..?
Although it's a classic & vintage ride, any type of bike is welcome.
EDIT: I found the link to the monthly vintage ride...

That's Chuck wearing the red Campagnolo jersey, and yes, tomorrow is the monthly Vintage ride from the south end of the parking lot at the Rose Bowl by the aquatic center and picnic area @ 11:00. 25 miles of fairly causual riding with a stop in Sierra Madre at Bean Town Cafe/Bakery for casual talk.:D Anything ridable, but pre 85 preferred. A lot of fixies were showing up a couple of months ago.

You're one lucky man, Herb.....if you were able to ride that thing right out of the box without any soreness....it'll only get better from here...:D

@#$@#$ UPS came by on Friday to drop mine off, but they wanted a signature. Now I have to wait til Monday. I'm a little leery of putting that thing on 5 days before the B2B ride. I should get 2 short rides on it this week, so we'll see how it goes.

I had fun on this one, good to meet you and I hope to ride with you again soon. Perfect weather day for a fun ride. Now I remember why I don't miss Manhattan.

Which model did you get Herb? Once broken in, they're great, they just weigh 600 g. (B17) It's the most comfortable saddle I've ever had.

I'm the guy in the last picture staring off to the sky. I drove down from Santa Barbara this morning just for the ride. Trying to decide, at $3.15 a gallon, whether or not to drive down tomorrow for the vintage ride.

Too late now. I'm back up here in beautiful Santa Barbara. This morning's ride was a last minute thing and I didn't even bring a tooth brush. Besides, I wanted to catch part of the air show at Pt. Mugu this afternoon. I've got work to do but I'm still thinking about tomorrow.

Nope..not fresh out of the box...this is an older Brooks Professional (not Team) no bag loops on the back, that came on the bike I bought to use on my trainer...overall a great deal for $50...
I have been using it on the trainer for a month or so....
It was somewhat in bad shape....some slight cracking, dirty...but i have been working on it to clean and treat it...seems pretty good now...
