There is no best song unless you are stuck in a city of ClearChannel Radio spin the same 30 songs every two hours for the rest of your life while drinking Bud Light type of town. Music is constantly changing and evolving. Tonight's favorite is Richard Thompson's "Vincent Black Lighting", tomorrow might be Cake's "Building a Religion", Monday, Moody Blues' "Knights in White Satin" Tuesday, Death Cab for Cutie "Into the Black." Point is music changes daily go out on a limb and try something new, you might like it. When the new Arbitrons come out and people have switched off the crappy repeat the playlist on the hour radio stations and gone to satellite or internet radio ClearChannel and the mega crap conglomerates might play something besides Leonard Skynard and Led Zepplin 5 times an hour again!

We have a winner.
I performed that one once in a recital. Though it was a piano recital, I performed that piece on a sousaphone.

There are way too many great songs to pick the best. Not to mention what I consider to be the best is forever changing and really depends on my mood.

Another vote for Stairway To Heaven
Side note. A local rock/pop station has a listener voted top 500 they play every Memorial Day weekend. STH was the #1 song every year from 1975 to last year. It came in second last year to I can't remember what song. I was too mad to pay attention.

Edit: A few years ago, Mojo (UK music mag) named "In My Life" by the Beatles as the best song ever.
There is way to much music out there to lable 1 song the best.
STH ..over rated.. has no meaning...playing it is banned in the best instrument shops.:D

STH ..over rated.. has no meaning...True it has no meaning. Robert Plant just wrote lyrics in a few hours to music that Jimmy Page had already written. But a great many classic rock songs were written that way.
