Hi. Does anyone like Sachs make a chain that will work fine with the older Uniglide 6 or 7 speed SIS systems? Also, does anyone know if an STI combo lever can be modified or bought to work with this older system?

TIA

Tracy,
I am going to go out on a limb here. In the Performance catalog there is a note at the end of the chains section that says

"Above 8-speed chains will work on 6 & 7-speed."

I can't vouch for that yet, but a couple of days ago I ordered an 8-speed SRAM chain to try on my 6-speed. Maybe one of the other posters can confirm.

Regards,
Raymond

I use the 8 speed Sachs/SRAM on 5/6/7 and 8. It works on any of the older systems.

Nashbar has a 2 pack of 7 speed chains on sale for $4.95

Thanks. I wasn't aware of this. I thought narrower hyperglide chains would have derailing issues.

The Sachs/SRAM/SEDIS advise above is good !! Best chains by far, several models will work with 6 or 7 speed just fine
