Today was the big day for me. Bought a Trek 1500 with, get this, ULTEGRA front and rear!! :D
Big shout out to Geoff at RBM(coit rd). He held the bike for a few hours untill I got the final OK from my wife(shout out to you to honey! ), and after I hunted him down when I came back he took his time making sure the bike was a good fit, put my shimano pedals on and worked his way from there, even helping out with stem issues. I am completely relaxed on the bike and it just feels natural. As busy as they were I was never rushed. The bike is the red paint scheme not Discovery.
Looking foward to Saturday group rides and around WRL.

Chris, sorry I wasn't able to help you out picking the bike out, but sounds like you made a great choice. The 1500 is a great bike and should treat you very well for a very long time. RBM is a great shop and certainly looked like they were busy this morning when I arrived back from the Saturday morning ride.

Congrats on the purchase! Nice choice on the red. (<--- has same) Long drive to RBM?
Enjoy!
With quite a few new Dallas area riders joining the boards since last fall, who would be up for a BF's meet and greet somewhere, either with or without the bikes. Last time we did one we all met at RBM in Richardson and then headed for BJ's Pizza. Great chance for some of us to meet the others off the bike, and hopefully find more cyclists at the same fitness level (or slightly above to help push you to improve).

I'd definately be in. I love BJs. (Might as well say it before someone else does ;) ) Would be nice to find a riding partner. (can't ever find one being a "baby" at 19)
Stray Cat, if you haven't stopped by the PBA website to check out some of their rides that they have during the week, but sure to do so. I'm actually heading up for the Sunday Afternoon Distance builder ride in about an hour. I'm usually doing one of the RBM rides on Saturday, PBA on Sunday or solo. There's also a ride down to White Rock Lake on Tuesdays that are pretty relaxed.

What is the PBA?
I'm not exactly close to you guys, but I'd drive up there one weekend to eat some good pizza if the ride was long enough to deserve it!

PBA = Plano Bicycle Association www.planobicycle.org/pba
The PBA is pretty large and offers group rides almost everyday of the week. There enough members and groups to accommodate just about every level of riding.
I'd be down for a meet and greet. I prefer to do it on the bikes.
To the OP -- Congrats on the new ride. It's always a great feeling to have a new bike. I hope you have many enjoyable miles on it.
Congrats on the new bike Spinner. I will make every effort to attend any meet / greet /ride.

Definitely! and I agree on BJ's
fixed that for you. some extra words seemed to have been at the end.
I think we've offically hijacked RC_Spinner's thread. He's not going to know what's going on when he checks back on the thread later. So, to prevent any more hijacking I'll start up a thread about a potential meet up.

thanks for the replies. I took it out for it's first ride today, just around the neighborhood for 45 minutes, taking it through the gears, finding what is comfortable etc, and man!, this thing rocks my socks!!!!!! first I go out and feel the power between my legs and come back to this talk about BJ's??? Wife is in trouble tonight:p
Yeah, I'm in for a meet and greet, even a weeknight would be cool.

The easiest retort is just dropping him on a climb, any climb really will do.
