Hi all. I just got a used Peugeot road bike recently and have been trying to figure out what year and model my bike is. Admittedly, I have little to no background history of Peugeot bikes, so it makes it that much harder. I've pretty much figured out that it's probably from the 70's. That's about it. The serial number was scratched off (i'm assuming it was stolen a while back because where it was scratched is pretty rusty now).
Here are a few photos. Can anyone help? Is there more info I can supply? or photos?

Thanks! Do you know when they stopped manufacturing the UO8s? Late 70's, early 80's?

Beautiful Peugeot!!
I'll guess somewhere in the '74-'78 era, but thats just a guess, I'm no expert.
Point #1, It's got "Thunderbird" headlugs, which vanished at some pointin the mid 70's, my late 70's UE-8 has plain headlugs.
Point #2, At some point in the mid-late 70's the UO/UE lost it's Mafac "Racer" brakes for Weinmann's, you have the Weinmann's. My UE also has the Weinmann set.
Otherwise, it looks like it's in amazing shape! Some better pictures of the decals on the seat tube would be great. Also, you might want to submit photo's of your UO to Tom (twsindypa) at http://www.retropeugeot.com/
I still need to send in some pics of my UE-8
man that's a fine bike...

I think that the shimano deraillers are updated pieces.
Circa 1977 is a good guess. It's newer than 1974, older than 1980.

Aaron, here are a few more pictures with better details of the decals. I'm pretty sure mine is a UO8 because of the French flag decals that come off the main Peugeot logo. The only times I've seen this online are on confirmed UO8's. And it's definitely not newer than 1980 because there are registration stickers on the seat tube and the latest one says it expires in 1980. There are a couple other stickers underneath that one.
Also, whoever owned it once upon a time raced this bike. There are stickers from the races it's been in. Apparently these races took place in Hawaii according to the stickers.
FYI, I found this bike on Craigslist. The guy was asking $200, but eventually sold it to me for $100. I had no idea what I was buying, so I'm glad it's not a completely crap bike.
Thanks everyone for your comments and help. I am completely new to road bikes and appreciate all the info I can get.
Y.

oh, also, this number is stamped on the part where the seatstay and chainstay meet: Y802 16824. Would that help me identify the year at all? I'm not really sure if it's the serial number.

I am assuming there is not a similar serial number on the underside of the bottom bracket. Just fishing.

Yeah, there's just an empty rust spot there.
Not sure of the model---nice color blue though.
