Hi,
I've been looking to buy a good used bike on a budget that wont be used a whole lot off road, maybe a few trails here and there. Came accross a used Trek 7000 zx in "overall good condition" but it needs new tires and chain for $75. Sound like a good deal, a really good deal, or should I stay away from it and look for a more up to date second hand bike?

Thats really all the info I have on the bike so should I try get more info or should I avoid it?

Thanks for any help.

Depends on how old it is, but for 75 beans there isnt too much risk involved.

Do you have any pictures or know what year it is?

PS. My budget is more than $75. I just moved into the area and i NEED a bike to get out and about on but I havent started working yet so I dont have a huge budget. I'd like a nice bike that I wont have to put too much money into. I've seen other used (some barely used) bikes that have been in my budget but this looks like it MIGHT be a good deal but I dont know much about it.

Any help/ideas anyone?

Would I be better off with that or a like new 2004 trek 4100 for $150?

Looks like a 98 (from the color)

The fork is probably shot, but if you find a cheap rigid fork, it would make a nice commuter.

I've got the same rig (maybe a 99?)...Get it. I have enjoyed many years of service from it!!! Down with the Trek nay-sayers on this forum...I still ride it even though I've got other bikes to choose from. $75 bones? Damn. Big smile...and enjoy.
