Road Cycling - Here's my new ride!

Okay guys, this is the moment of truth! After months and weeks of delay, I have finally gotten my new bike. I can't tell how excited I am about this. It is my first road bike, a Trek 2200. Weeeeee! This bike is one great bike, it goes quick, fits me well and is very agile. Before I go on, this is the picture of the bike.

Okay, does it look great? Maybe it doesn't, can't expect too much from a cheap and battery-thirsty digital camera. However, it does really look cool, in my perspective.

It comes equipped with ultegra components other than the brakes and bottom bracket which are 105s. I upgraded the cassette to ultegra instead of the 105 and the owner of the LBS upgraded the front derailleur for free to ultegra as well. It is quite light, below 8.0kg, I'm not sure of the exact weight though but I believe it is close to 7.5kg. My average speed has increased by a lot, compared to my tank hardtail that I have been riding for close to a year. It is so easy and so fun to ride. Today's ride was great, though there was rather strong winds, I was able to go quite fast. I have yet to tried out the clipless pedals because I am still not quite used to riding this bike, it is just way too cool to be trashed. I have the Nike Ventoux cycling shoes, Trek Fast Eddy gloves, Selev Alien helmet, Wrench Force Air Slim pump, all of which are great! I really love this bike, it has become a close companion of mine, it is only 3 days old and I have ridden over 30km in a ride. I don't have much time to ride it due to the tests, exams and everything. However, I promise everyone that I'll take good care of this bike and I will ride it whenever I can. I am even going to give this bike a name, if I can find it that is.

Oh I almost forgot, it is a 2003 Trek 2200 model in size 54cm if you guys can still see the sticker. I have yet to remove it. HEHE :D

Nice choice. My wife rides last years 2200 and a friend I work with at the LBS is riding this years. Trek's aluminum frames are really nice. They are light and very smooth riding for aluminum. I don't find them to be harsh at all. I've always thought bikes in this price range were good values. You get almost all Ultegra and a good solid frame for about $1600. Not bad at all.

now get out on that bike and ride!! or you'll get caned.

HAHA, who will cane me if I don't ride? I think the only person would be me. It is a great bike, I love to be a roadie right now, with my helmet, riding on the road. I'll be doing more rides from now on, it feels really great on the bike.

How long do you think I should wait before upgrading my parts? Should I start with the saddle or the bottle cages or whatever? I really feel like changing the bottle cages, and I have to buy another one since I'll get really thirsty. Should I get the Tacx ones?

Yeah, switch out the cage...that orange one just isn't working. I like basic black Trek ones as well as the black Elites. Other then that, just ride it as it is for a while, it's a pretty well set up bike.

Which Shop did you buy it from?
Treknology? or What?

Yep, Treknology. It was the last model of 2200 in size 54. I think there's another in size 56. The 2200 is not a model that they usually sell. On that day I went home with my bike, the mechanics told me that it was the first time he saw a Trek 2200. I guess it isn't exactly popular. He says people are willing to fork out a little more for a ZR9000 2300, with ultegra components.

nice ride... what wheelset is that? it looks like shimano but I cannot tell.

The wheels are bontrager selects.

Yep, Bontrager Select wheels with Bontrager Race Lite tires.

ha... i like french... so i trekked all the way to the US to get a LOOK... ha!... no not really...
treknology's cool... the place is like 5 mins walk from my home in singapore... and for that reason ive never been to cycleworx... will have to make a visit sometime...
