Road Cycling - Campy Mirage

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have been looking at the Mercier Aquila euro, with Mirage group. How good is that stuff? The Mercier Corvus with 105 and some other upgrades is only $50 more. which is a better buy?
Mirage is equivelent to one step below the 105, you could also consider upgrading to veloce which is equivelent to 105 instead of upgrading it to 105.

Boy, I don't know. I've owned Veloce and 105, and i do not consider Veloce equal to 105. I think 105 is a little better. Shifts are more exact and quicker/crisper IMO. If you don't have any shifting styles preferences, the 105 bike for 50 dollars more than the one with Mirage is an absolute no brainer IMO. The question which is the better buy, definitely the 105 bike in this case.
I have Mirage (triple) on a Univega and it works fine. It doesn't work as well as my other Campy bikes one being a Record/Chorus mix and the other a retro Super Record but at a functional level it does what it's supposed to do.
I have to confess I've never ridden an indexing Shimano group so all I can offer you is Campy to Campy comaparisons fwiw.
