Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yesterday for me - admittedly short TT - it was trance cranked all the way up for a whopping 3 1/2 minutes.
10 seconds, hit play, volume up
5 seconds grab the bars, position the cranks....
Jammin.
Prodigy....
3 songs, tingle -hair standing. I can stay with about anyone.
That or scroodedbyu....

I was under the distinct impession that USA Cycling rules forbid ipod use in all events.
Or are you talking about training TT's. I presume.

During TT warm ups or doing TT on the trainer. Korn, Disturbed, A Perfect Circle, and it is always best to finish off with "Twist" by Korn.

Gotta have "The Distance" by Cake. "Knights of Cydonia" by Muse kicks ass too.
Too bad I don't own an mp3 player :(

I have a bunch of things on my ipod. During practice TT's I listen to: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerti #2 and #3, Wagner overtures (Tannhauser in particular) well as Keane, Smashmouth and some Guns & Roses.

Welcome to the Jungle would rock as a TT song. How about Dies Irae from Mozart's Requiem? Gob's cover of the Stones Paint it Black from the stir of echoes soundtrack? Evanescence - Bring me to life? Kid Rock - Bawitdaba? Faith no more - Epic? Bach - Toccata and Fugue in D minor??
Tell me more about the Prodigy songs?

Most of the time I just use some trance stuff I downloaded. Not particularly impressive music but it has the right pulsations for long TT efforts.
When I'm doing VO2 I definitely lean into the metal: Amon Amarth, Testament, Kataklysm, Martyr, Legion of the Damned, Slayer, Symphony X, ...
Doctor Who

I use mine in warmups. Ice-T, Disturbed, Public Enemy, the previously mentioned 'The Distance' by Cake, and some silly songs - Snap's 'I've got the Power", Special Ed's 'Got it Made'. Oh and Prodigy.
I don't race with it, as I zone completely out on TT's and probably wouldn't hear the songs anyway.
...some Guns & Roses.
Welcome to the Jungle would rock as a TT song.'You Could Be Mine' is great for all-out effort, too.

I generally listen to the sound of my heart pounding in my ears. Drowns out the pain.

Yeah, towards the end of a 20' TT (to get FTP) or in a real TT, when tunnel vision sets in. on my freakin' word I can't think of anything else but getting to the finish line.
the last time i did a TT they didn't have ipods.

Rule 1K3: (modified this year to include the following)
"Audio playback devices are expressly forbidden."
But for warming up, I listen to some Van Halen (the real VH).

That was just plain wrong - (not your comment, that was funny) - but it was wrong with Sammy and even worse with Gary.

You mean like sitting on my trainer warming up. Wow if you need to concentrate doing that, balance must be a real challenge.

the lyrics kind of make more sense for a breakaway, but i cannot agree more. on the trainer, this was always my last song for the sprint home to the finish. now, it's a bit of pavlov's dog. everytime i hear it, i can feel adrenaline shoot through my body. not good when driving home during rush hour.

Hey Man, Nice Shot by Filter would be a good choice....starts off kinda mellow, and picks up pace through the song, and then really takes off at the end.
Other notables (songs with decent tempos):
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
The Fly - U2
Who Made Who - AC/DC
There Goes My Hero - Foo Fighters
Sick of Life - Godsmack
Awake - Godsmack
Battery - Metallica
Wherever I May Roam - Metallica
I'm Broken - Pantera :D
Run Runaway - Slade
Super Bon Bon - Soul Coughing
Stop, Stop, Stop - The Hollies (that's for patentcad)
Cherry Pie - Warrant
