Road Cycling - got my new/old bike today

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just got my new/old bike today delivered by FEDEX. It is a bridgestone 300 with shimano & diacompe components, overall for a 20 year old bike it is incredible shape! I should have it ready to ride in a couple of days. I bought it off of e-bay as a rain bike , but I think after I get through with it I probably will just use it as a short ride bike, 10-30 mile rides as it will be almost like new! A lot of elbow grease degreasing & polishing can go a long way. Wish me luck on my new project.

I finished the bridgestone project last night, I dont have any pics yet but it turned out to be a nicer ride than I thought. It weighed in at 23.5 lbs on the scales at work. I didnt like the 27" wheels so i converted it to 700c because of the heavy freewheel design. The frame and original components on this bike were absoulutely in perfect cosmetic and working order. The wheel size change was easy because the bike came original with long reach diacompe single pull brakes, but I changed the pads to 105. Everything was kept the same except for the wheels, brakepads, seat, bars & stem. The stem was too short & the bars were to narrow for me, but I will keep them aroun so later it can be built back to original in case someone else wants it more than I do. This was my first 12 to 14 speed conversion so I am pretty happy with they way the project went. Anyone else out there with any projects they are working on? I would like to hear about them or even see a few pics!
