Ok, I hate doing this, but this one really made some sense. Here's a silly MySpace bulletin that one of my friends probably got as an email forward. I apologize if you've seen it before but some people haven't. Also, I know it's written about motorcyclists, but everything in it applies to bicyclists as well.

I saw you, hug your purse closer to you in the grocery store line. But, you didn't see me, put an extra $10.00 in the collection plate last Sunday.

I saw you, pull your child closer when we passed each other on the sidewalk. But, you didn't see me, playing Santa at the local mall.

I saw you, change your mind about going into the restaurant.
But, you didn't see me, attending a meeting to raise more money for the hurricane relief.

I saw you, roll up your window and shake your head when I drove by. But, you didn't see me, driving behind you when you flicked your cigarette butt out the car window.

I saw you, frown at me when I smiled at your children.
But, you didn't see me, when I took time off from work to run toys to the homeless.

I saw you, stare at my long hair. But, you didn't see me, and my friends cut ten inches off for Locks of Love.

I saw you, roll your eyes at our leather coats and gloves.
But, you didn't see me, and my brothers donate our old coats and gloves to those that had none.

I saw you, look in fright at my tattoos.
But, you didn't see me, cry as my children where born and have their name written over and in my heart.

I saw you, change lanes while rushing off to go somewhere.
But, you didn't see me, going home to be with my family.

I saw you, complain about how loud and noisy our bikes can be.
But, you didn't see me, when you were changing the CD and drifted into my lane.

I saw you, yelling at your kids in the car.
But, you didn't see me, pat my child's hands, knowing he was safe behind me.

I saw you, reading the newspaper or map as you drove down the road. But, you didn't see me, squeeze my wife's leg when she told me to take the next turn.

I saw you, race down the road in the rain.
But, you didn't see me, get soaked to the skin so my son could have the car to go on his date.

I saw you, run the yellow light just to save a few minutes of time.
But, you didn't see me, trying to turn right.

I saw you, cut me off because you needed to be in the lane I was in. But, you didn't see me, leave the road.

I saw you, waiting impatiently for my friends to pass.
But, you didn't see me. I wasn't there.

I saw you, go home to your family. But, you didn't see me.
Because, I died that day you cut me off.

I was just a biker. A person with friends and a family.
But, you didn't see me.

You saw me with my buddies at Christmas when we were riding in our Toys for Tots program.
But, you didn't see us when we beat the crap out of a snitch who tried to rip off our meth lab.

FWIW, I have a buddy who's a deputy sheriff and he's told me some pretty wild tales about the Hell's Angels. Despite their claims that "we're only a motorcycle club", he knows that they're really an "ongoing criminal enterprise".

No...sorry for the confusion. I certainly didn't mean to imply that at all!

It's just that my deputy sheriff friend had recently spoken about the "we're just a friendly motorcycle club" image that the Angels try to present...he was very adamant that they're really thugs and outlaws, no matter how hard they try to present a softer image.

IMO, most motorcyclists are friendly, and "fellow two-wheeled travelers". On my bike, I often get a thumbs-up from them (especially the ones on those big fat Harleys that I pass going downhill...those bikes can't corner for sh*t :D ).

Sort of the way many motorist see cyclist as either homeless or former drunk drivers.

Don't you?

People need to be more aware of their surroundings, that's all.

SSP--dude, nowhere in the OP is there any indication that the guy was in the hell's angels, or even remotely connected to the hell's angels, pagans, or any other biker gang. In fact, it's not even clear the guy's riding a harley. I think that's the whole *point* of the OP, don't you? If you think tats, long hair, a beard, and leathers a hell's angel make...

just let me point out that you filled out the shoes of the "you" quite nicely.

lame.

Hmmm, I wasn't aware that the Hell's Angels were trying particularly hard to "clean up their image". I always got the impression that they were just a group of people, like people who like to ride pedal bikes, doing their thing, enjoying their [motor]bikes, and assimilating the biker "look", kind of like we do when we don our spandex. Silly me...

Thanks for posting the little story, Manual Overide.

I saw your disapproval of my appearance, dress and choice of friends but you did not see me shopping for software to log my bicycle rides... nor will you.
Ever!

Have a stereotypical nice day.

The Hells Angels are far from a gentle group. I've never had trouble with them and at least once I was thrilled to see one walk through the door at a bar and hug the bouncer (Other potential trouble with young punk was brewing). One other time On a long hard ride I got buzzed by a jerk on a crotch rocket. Later on I heard a hog comming from behind and wondered if I was in for a second round, only to have him throttle down and coast by me. Yup that one was a Hells Angel. Talked a bit with him over a beer later.

My folks traveled in Europe and over there the Hells Angels seem to be totally different having a rep as the guys who stop to help motorists.

I've been on the same side as the Motorcyclist, Hells Angel or not. I've had a beard for over 20 years, when it is mountian man long I sometimes get that reaction. One time I stopped to help a stranded lady and she was a bit afraid of me. Of course no one else stopped, but I understood, better safe than sorry. She stayed in her car. I still waited until the help she called rolled up.
