All reviews of this ride seem positive and might not be a bad ride for a rook to break himself in. i know its 7 weeks out, but is this on anyone's radar?

I'm in on this one. Last couple of years have been hot. The course is much harder after the 40 mile turn around. A fun ride though. good parking and good vibe.

It's right in my back yard, but it's also the same weekend as the Cross Timbers Classic which starts at the Texas Motor Speedway with a lap around the track. Going to be a hard choice over convenience vs coolness factor.

Yeah, I know. I'll probably end up doing the close ride, especially if there's a BF crew going to be there. Maybe I'll take the Serotta and make it a "relaxed" pace ride. :)

tell me more about the cross timbers thing. I'm trying to organize a bike race at TMS and I could use a contact.

Took me a bit, but I found a link to the wildride (http://www.active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1399681). I don't compete, but both rides look like fun. And a good way to see what my road bike will do.
