Commuting - Kudos to the City of Beaverton transportation department

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Last week there was a nasty wreck involving several cars on my main route to work. Consequently there was a ton of glass all over a 50 yard stretch of road with most of it being in the bike lane.

Yesterday I visited the city's transportation department's website and sent them a note informing them of the glass and debris. I came to work this morning to an email letting me know that they have dispatched a sweeper to the area to clean it up. I was surprised and delighted at their very timely response. :D

- yes, but did someone actually sweep up the glass?

:-)

p.s. tell 'em there are quite a few streets down here that need help... i can't get my city/county to do anything except spend money and raise taxes...

Ill find out tomorrow morning. My evening ride home is a bit different from the ride in. I suppose I could climb the hill but Id rather just take the MUP. Less cars so it smells better :)

everytime I try to call the public works department here about anything they tell me it "isn't in their jurisdiction"

next time I'm going to ask "what exactly IS in your jurisdiction? the sidewalk outside of your office?"
