Commuting - Nike commuting jacket.

Has anyone used this? Any better/cheaper options you can recommend? Thanks.

Depending on the size you need, if you wear a small, and like the color, this is a screaming deal right now

Nice color, but if it's raining out, visibility is already reduced so dark blues, grays and blacks just kinda disappear against the background. I'll stick w/ something bright yellow. I may look like a banana on a bike to the drivers, but at least they see me.

I'd never consider anything but yellow. I used to have occasional "incidents" with cars until I switched to yellow.

I personally get a Nautica yellow shell jacket (~$50 from an outlet store) and supplement it with a fleece inner jacket in super cold weather. Cheap, durable, visible, functional, --what else can you ask for?

(Well there was the time I was asked to load a bag onto a Hertz airport shuttle bus by some quite rude lady who assumed I was the help. I told her even if I was a Hertz employee she'd have to ask a lot nicer than that)

Are sizes on these tight or loose? $119.00 is a good price then?

There are lots of jackets available for commuting. I like using an REI brand jacket bought several years ago (that model is no longer available), but their website has several great options like the Marmot Precip. While I haven't tried their lighter jacket, I do have a thicker Marmot jacket that also uses the Precip material, and it works great as a winter coat.

I have a Marmot Oracle with Precip+. I also have a showers pass elite. There isnt much comparason. The marmot is not a cycling cut, so its bulky, the hood doesnt remove, and it gets clammy inside, from sweat buildup.

The Marmot was good for stuff other than cycling, which the showerspass isnt as good as from its lack of pockets, short cut in waist for being bent over a bike, etc.

The biggest difference between the two other than cyclign specific fit, is that my base layers are not soaked in sweat after an hours ride in the showerspass one.

Both are meant for hard pouring rain. If its not raining, i have prefer other jackets like softshell for winter commuting instead of either.

I have a J&G Cyclewear vented cycling jacket from www.bicycleclothing.com. It's $99, and is an excellent jacket for the price. I use it every day it's < 50*F or so as a windbreaker, I've gone down to -20*F with layers underneath, and I wear it every time it's raining really hard (in light to moderate rains when it's warm I prefer to just get wet).

I've never heard anything but high praise for the Showers Pass Elite so I'm sure that'd be great too.

As for the Nike, I'd never buy something in that color for cycle commuting. I don't really want to die that way.

I bought an elite in M from colorado cyclist. There billing forms suck. Thank goodness for auto-fill. The color is what matters and I had been thinking the scotchlite would be enough. I have a dark green marmot rain coat that I commuted with and realized my deathwish when my blinky died @ 11:30pm.
