Cleaned my chain with a tooth brush and simple green, rinsed with water, dried, then lubed with Wrench force extra dry lube (made by pedros). I now have much more noise coming from the area of my cog/rear derailer. Do you think I might of done something wrong when cleaning the chain, or is this lube just really bad (first time I've used it)? Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Are you sure you got all of the Simple Green rinsed off. And if so, are you sure you got everything dry before you applied lube? OTOH, I have never used that particular lube so it could be the lube. Maybe try recleaning the chain and using a different lube to compare?

I agree that it might be the lube. I use Simple Green and have never had any problem. I use ProLink lube after rinsing and drying and my linkage always sounds silent after I'm done.

Are you sure that you don't need to readjust your derailleurs?

Maybe I do, but everything was fine before I cleaned the chain. I'll have a look at that tomorrow, never thought of that!

Did you remove the chain to clean it? I'm assuming so, since you did the toothbrush thing. Does the chain have a master link thingy, or did you have to use a chain tool? If you used a chain tool, check for tight links or a rivet that didn't get pushed all the way in. If it's a tight link, you can usually loosen it up enough by bending it back and forth (side-to-side, the way it wasn't meant to bend).

did you accidently turn the adjuster on the rear derailleur? is the wheel safely in the dropouts?
