Mountain Biking - Mystery Bruises! I wonder where they came from?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was just rubbing my leg (had a scratch) and hit a bruise. Wow, that hurt! How did I do that?

Let's see, I rode the night before last, didn't take a big spill, a couple little plunks and a minor crash, but I don't remember hitting my leg in that spot.

As I further rub my legs, (Curious now) I find I've got about 3 bruises total on the lower parts of my legs.

It's been really hot lately, so I've passed on the leg armor. Maybe I'll just have to endure the added heat and wear them.

You ever encounter Mystery Bruises?

Heh.. sometimes just putting the bike in my truck, I get a bruise.. heh.. Sometimes you hit your leg on the frame or bars when you're riding and just don't notice... as a mountian biker, you have to get used to being black and blue... it comes with the bike/territory!

Getting injured putting your bike in the truck just doesn't have much of a retell value to it. "I was assaulted by my tailgate!" I'm not sure anyone is going to buy it. Just lie and say you got it when you tried that 12' drop to flat that no one thought could be done.

Hehe, yeah for sure... well if you saw how I fell out of my truck the other day.. well then yeah, I should make a good story... I was on my bike.. but anyway... notice how you always get a bruise from something dumb, then you're stuck with a lame story..? Now that should be the thread title! :)

Just say you tried bunnyhopping out of the bed of your truck and stalling on the tailgate, and to make a long story your back wheel caught the tailgate and you ended up doing a superman into the ground from six feet in the air :p

I guess bruising comes with old age.. I can't remember any time I've had a bruise. I tend to find cuts and scrapes but no bruises. I have even crashed on a narrow up right after a downhill and slammed my chest into the center of the handlebars.. Right as I hit the dip at the bottom of the down I started peddling and caught a hidden root amongst the weeds. Again, I was red, scraped up, and a little blood but no typical black and blue bruising. Maybe I'm just lucky. And if I can, I'd like to keep it that way. lol

Just a little more lighting.

I wonder if anyone told him he has to pull up on the bars when doing stuff like that. It does look painfull but it makes for a good laugh:roflmao:
