After getting clipless pedals with my mountain bike it has basically cut off any trials I was learning to do at the time. I've decided to buy a full size trials bike. I'm still a teen and live off of limited funds, but I have lots of time to learn technique :) What company should I be looking at and what components should I avoid and which ones are good? I can spend maybe 600 to 700 canadian. That's a lot for me.

Thanks, any help is appreciated..
Nathan

Hi Nate, welcome to the BikeForums! I dont think there are too many trials riders here, hopefully somebody else can come up with an answer for you.

A good place to start would be the trials-online (http://www.trials-online.com/) website, they have a great active forum there, with quite a few links and trials information.

Rather then purchase a new bike, you could always grab a 2nd pair of pedals for trial riding :)

Nathan,
As Joe says, Welcome! If the only issue is pedals, just swap them out when you need to. Heck, it only takes about 60 seconds and a thin 15 mm wrench, some don't even need a thin one.

Raymond

Or you can cut a bearclaw pedal (are they still called that? heh) in half, and weld on an SPD cleat, when you want to do your trials, just clip on the platform pedal :) I have seen plastic pedals with this type of setup, i think they come standard on the lower end SPD's (323's?), I doubt they would hold up to trials riding.
