View Full Version : A way to donate a membership?

Under the current paid subscriptions, it's only possible to 'upgrade membership'. The membership automatically accrues to the person who pays for it.

Would it be possible to have an additional "Available Subscriptions" choice which would be for the specific purpose of donating a membership to the person of one's choice, WITHOUT the necessity of having to annoy our Adminstrators by sending in proof of payment, and requesting that such and such a person be given a membership?

And of course, a tick box to indicate that the gift membership is either to be donated anonymously or not?

East Hill- should your thoughts become a reality I'd like to apply for a "scholarship".

You should have joined the Chipcom Avatar Contest!

That does not answer my question.

You can try asking Joe about it, but I suspect that with the relatively small amount of demand for such a feature, it probably won't get implemented. You already can donate stars anonymously, and it probably doesn't happen frequently enough to automate the process. Just my speculation, with no hard evidence.

I would have thought I would not be the only person thinking along those lines. I did think it might be nice to have something in place so that people could get someone a membership for a birthday, or other occasion, without having to go through a lot of rigamarole.

Perhaps if it were implemented there would be more demand?

That still doesn't answer the question, though.

I am asking, and isn't this where admins would normally look?

So, apparently it's not important, or least, it's not important to anyone except for me.

Thanks.

I don't know, East Hill. I'd contact Joe. This sort of thing really is his department.

I think when the mods say "ask Joe" they mean you should send a PM (private message) to Joe Gardner (http://www.bikeforums.net/member.php?u=3), the head honcho of BF.

BTW, I know it is possible to donate a red star, because somebody was kind enough to give me one. :)

Thank you Roody.

I also have donated red stars--my question was to ask whether or not it could be an option in one's own user control panel, so as to expedite or facilitate donating.

However, it truly seems that this is of no interest to no one except for me.
