I'm searching for a trailer that I can tow with my bike which will hold both my 3-year-old and his bike.

For the last year, a favorite Saturday activity has been to strap my son's Radio Flyer Tricycle to the top of the trailer and bike out to the local hike-bike paved trail. Once there, he rides his tricycle 2 or 3 miles. Once he's tired I strap the tricycle to the trailer again, he usually naps in the trailer, and I get in a 30 mile ride.

He'll get a bicycle this weekend for his 3rd birthday -- a Specialized HotRock -- courtesy of his grandparents. I've not tried it yet, but it seems like it will be more challenging to strap the bicycle to the trailer than it is to strap the tricycle to the trailer.

Has anybody on the forum done this sort of thing? Any advice for modifying the trailer (Dreamer Design, wearing out from heavy loads, bikepacking.)

All best.

I tried carrying a 12" bike a few times but was not very successful. I thought the most "convenient" method would be to secure the front wheel and bars to the rear of the trailer, letting the rear tire drag. Kind of tagalong style but never dedicated the time to see if it would work.

Let us know if you figure out a good way to do it.

Seems like an Xtracycle is in order here. (http://xtracycle.com/sub.php)
