this will be my third saddle, trying to get away from that certain numbness down there. the first was a stock saddle on the giant ocr2, no groove, and after a 25 mile ride, i was numb for almost 3 weeks. egads. then went to a mtb with a pretty good groove, numbness only for a couple of days. well, i do not like any numbness. so i understand the selle italia slk will do the job. any remarks on this?

thanks

Have you measured out the sit bones to get the proper width saddle? Reason I ask is if the saddle width is correct for the width of your Ischium, then there is no pressure on the pirineum, and no circulatory restriction of the Perineal (Penile) artery. The numbness is generally caused by compression of that artery and reduced blood flow to your "junk". Proper saddle width and angle prevent this very nicely.

I don't know about the Selle, but I am a Specialized believer. I posted this yesterday......"Specialized has a series of body geometry saddles that comes in different widths. If you go to a Specialized dealer they will be able to "fit" you for one. An instrument they call the A$$-o-Meter (I couldn't make this up) will measure your sit bones. You'll have to ask them about it as I am sure it not one of their more glamorous duties. That being said....I tried 3 different saddles, stock Felt, Terry liberator, and some other torture device before the Specialized Alias. It is by far the most comfortable saddle I have used with absolutely no "break-in" period. It costs a little more but my can is worth the extra change."

That's how I measured my butt! He ain't kiddin' on the name folks!

I ride a sprung leather clone of a Brooks Conquest, more or less. It's a decent leather saddle though and once I got the angle dialed in, it turned out to be the most comfortable saddle I've ever ridden on!

I just ordered an SMP Pro Plus and it should be the correct width. I used a Terry and it was better then the WTB that came with my orginal bike. Transfered it to my new carbon bike and have not been able to get it to work correctly. No matter what I do it just does not fit. I hope it work as it is an expensive mistake if it does not.

let me just start of with a couple things I hate those saddles with the taint groove hole whatever
I have large quads and when I pedal I actually cause the saddle to pinch my stuff, putting the pressure on you sitbones is where its at as tom said already
the saddle that I really find to be cush are
selle italia slr the ti rails take up soe shock and the saddle itself is rather flexy
selle san marco lazer (no longer in production) has a similar shape to the concor/ regal type with the wide flanged rear vernice and comfy and a good platform to push from the tush if need be
elina super pro this is for lack of a better word and old saddle that is the product of a bmx company trying to make road saddles it is by in large know to be most uncomfortable to anyone but myself

I hope this helps out with your selection alot of people like the brooks and fizik lines however I hav no personall experience with them therefore I can't lend much advice
