Mountain Biking - Idea help needed

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well I've been lurking here for a few months now but haven't had much of anything to say since I'm just starting out with the whole mountain biking deal. Anyway, I've got a project for my entrepreneurial engineering class that involves coming up with a product to fill a specific need. So I'm here fishing for any ideas you might have related to mountain biking needs (I give full warning that this might turn into a full fledged business idea once I graduate!)
Thanks a bunch,
Ben

I want a stem that turns to Nerf when my nuts get within 5 inches of it.

Yes. I've hung my boys up on the stem once or twice. Not a pleasant sensation. Not at all.

A good pair of manpris will stop that.
A CVT that weighs only two pounds.
Platform pedals made from UHMW PE so they need no bearings. You can pin one side for traction and leave the other side smooth for grinding (or not).
Lightweight bark-busters for DH bikes
"Easy button" stem cap that actually works.
'Mag' wheels for DH bikes
I'd say a bling cam for eccentric bottom bracket bikes. Yeah not many people have them, yeah the bike comes with one, but I am talking about making one that is coool.
BTW, what the heck kinda engineer takes an entrepreneurial engineering class? I am at a pretty hardcore engineering university and we don't have a class called that.

Don't judge me. You don't know until you try! :roflmao:

Whats your school? I'm at Calpoly SLO for mechanical, the class is a 2 unit fill in (ie. not required) that sounded fun. I'm on my last quarter so I figured I'd take fun classes and a light load.
Edit: Whoops, missed the reply button there...

my school is University of MO-Rolla. We aren't the biggest school though so there isn't a real wide range of classes other than what it takes to get a degree. An entrepreneurial engineering class does sound pretty cool. I'm a mechanical right now, but I am switching to chemical next year, and I'll have 2 years left...which seems like a really effing long time, a feeling you probably know from being up all night trying to get **** done.
