hey guys im new here so i thought i would introduce myself. My name is Trevin, im 15. I am new to BMX and im hoping to get a new bike within 2 weeks. I cant really decide what a good bike to start with is. I was thinking about getting a mirraco blend 2 but id like some advice. not many people really bmx around where i live so how can i learn new stuff with no one there to teach me? thanks for any advice. ok i just re-read my post and realized i should explain my situation a little more. I have little experience at BMX. Price range of about 200-500 dollars. I want a bike that will last a while that i can use at a beginner level and intermediate. I will be riding street and park. I realize this question is asked a lot and im sorry for that. Thanks again

Welcome to BF. There's a lot of information about completes on here, but to be honest damn near all of the recommendations are based on hearsay, brand respect due to sponsored riders, or spec sheets.

The bikes everyone will tell you to get are the DK 6-pack, Fit flow series, or Integral Bel-Air, but there's plenty of great bikes by other companies.

I would start by checking out all of your local shops and go from there. The Mirraco is probably fine, I doubt anyone on here has direct experience with it though. Starting out, you don't usually want a bike that's set up a specific way, so it's not always good to spend a whole lot on a bike just to find out you wanted to run a different setup and spend a lot in parts to get there, leaving a lot of perfectly good ones unused. Most people start with a lower end bike and find a riding style, then determine their ideal setup and get nice parts for that.

what do you mean by "riding style"? Do you mean like a street version of a bike as oppose to a park version? and what is the difference between those by the way? is one heavier? Thanks again

street bikes are a little different than race bikes and dirt bikes are alot like street bikes but diffent still

race: bike light weight weakest construction of the three made to go fast
dirt: bike is heavy usually cromo usully no detangler has a slightly longer wheelbase
street: shortest wheelbase just as strong as the dirt bike built for more technical street tricks and jumps

those are the two best bargains and if you ask for peoples opinions on here you wont really get any new information. decide by yourself between those two.

Thanks for all of your help everyone. The fit flow is a little out of my price range. So i guess ill have to decide between the dk 6-pack and the mirraco blend2. Either way, ill post pics of it when i get it.

Go with the 6 Pack because the Mirraco bikes have been known to be a bit screwey... for example, they have forgotten to put welds in their forks.

That will be tough... but if you watch videos of pros and get advice from people (such as us, although if you just search the forums you can find everything you need) you can learn everything pretty easily. Just practice and you will get it one day.

Ok. i changed my mind. I won't be getting the dk 6-pack. i'll be getting the stolen wrap instead. Someone suggested that to a newbie like myself a while back. I searched for it. It looks like a bike for me. Thanks for all the help!

I don't know anyone who rides around here but I ride anyway. My friend used to ride with me and we could do about the same stuff, but he quit.

Well, occasionally I see other riders at the skatepark, but I don't learn stuff from them, just by trying it over and over and over every day until I get better at it.

yea just gotta try stuff..idk everyone reocmmened me the DK six pack personaly i dont like that bike very much..the FIt flow are good but they are abit pricy so thats why im going with the eastern element and then changing the cassette out to a nicer sealded one

another vote for the 6-pack I looked at the mirraco stuff after someone mentioned em here they look like they are all based on the mirra promodels which were garbage bikes late 90's when haro's quality really took a dive
