I'm breaking in a new saddle - anybody else have the black rub off on your pants? I hope this is temporary.

Well it depends on what you used to assist in breaking in the sadle, obviously it has emulisfied the dye.

This is also the reason that the UCI and the ABLofA (USCF) required black cycling shorts. Seriously.

I've only proofided my brooks once and I wear black shorts. No problem.

That's why I use Honey colored saddles. They don't show up as bad. Good luck

It happens all the time. That's why we wear black cycling shorts. After a while the stain will diminish. If you use anything on the leather to soften it, it will stain your pants. It should wash out. I bought a Honey colored saddle, and have not noticed the problem with this one.

Oils and conditioners sometimes will soften more than just the leather. I only use SnoSeal - just beeswax. Bottom side only, so body heat and ride motion brings it slowly up thru the leather. Just some neutral boot polish on top to keep things slick and cool. I haven't had a problem of black dye on my tan MTB shorts.
