Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

FYI for Goleta/Santa Barbara/Carp/SY Valley riders (or anyone up here with their machina)

Wednesday Evening Crit Practice - 6 PM
Research Park, Goleta (Cortona Dr across from the K-Martian, Castillian Dr off Los Carneros Rd)
D- shaped course
runs round about 45 min
loosely organized, hotly contested
no reg, no classes, Show N Go
Both Men and Women riders (and a few old farts - we need more!) showing up each week
great fast fun! tune your program, test those strategies, learn to detonate with style
...I hate those young riders...;)

I saw that the UCSB folks posted on their board something about weekly practice-crits. Is that the same day? We need someone to randomly bang the lightpole for primes to mix things up...

same, same
yeah saw a lot of UCSB riders out there, both men and women, some strong gurlz on that squad!
watched a few continue to hang in there long after us old farts detonated.
the week isn;t long enough...
Monday needs to be 'recovery' day, Friday is easy soz not to kill the weekend, Tuesday by default is climbing day, so Wednesday Crit the legs are flogged from the uphill work, Thursday becomes whatever can be mustered, usually higher tempo with short uphills
the week isn;t long enough...

The wrench - 'tradition' - like rollin up to the bathhouse on Sunday and feigning "legs are toast" (like they all do)
don;t know who inherited the wrench...
anyway, pole has been painted, but the big rust spot is breakin thru again :D

lose of a tradition :(
Ortega hill is now bypassed by the Sunday Bathhouse ride in favor of the new bikepath around. I still do Ortega...

I lived in SB for several years and did the bath house ride religiously back in 1990-1995. We are taking a journey down soon to visit friends. Is that ride still going on? What time does it leave and does it still leave from the parking lot or at the roaster? I heard it was leaving from the roaster at one point.

cheers-
jim

The 8:30am Saturday Echelon ride (anyone remember when they were Coastline?), used to leave from RoCo, but now they're departing from The Daily Grind coffeeshop on the corner of Mission & De La Vina.

I remember coastline. Whatever happened to Matt the guy that owned that place? Is he still around. I had a pretty good friend that worked there. Trevor was the guys name.

Later.
